The Movie Start Among Mercedes Models: Upgrade Your Mercedes SL (R017) and Mercedes SLC (C107) with Our KW V3 Coilovers or KW V3 Damper Kit

Enhance the Driving Dynamics of Timeless Oldtimers with KW suspensions

When wanting to get an overview of all Mercedes-Benz SL (R107) and SLC (C107) models it can get truly overwhelming. Over a total production period of 18 years, numerous model variations and revisions were introduced to make sure the SLC coupe and the SL convertible continually improve. Especially the vehicles from 1974 to 1977 had some problems regarding rust issues which was fixed a few years later. Whether used as a reliable long-distance vehicle or a stylish film car – back then, the SL and SLC have always been a smart choice.

The Mercedes SL (R107) is One of The Most Beloved Classic Cars – Our KW V3 Coilovers Makes It Even More Attractive

Even today, models from the 70s and 80s remain high in demand. The SL consistently ranks among the top ten favorite classic cars. This is one of the reasons why we decided to develop a suitable coilover kit for the SL (Type R107) and SLC (Type C107). Now, we offer our versatile V3-technoloy to perfectly suit these classic cars.

We now offer the KW V3 as a coilover solution for Mercedes classics. Our KW V3 coilovers allows a continuous lowering of both models, ranging from 25 to 45 millimeters on the front and rear axles. Additionally, the driver can adjust the damping setup according to their preferences. This is especially handy for drivers who desire a retro car with a sporty-modern feel.

Please note that lowering isn’t only for heavily tuned vehicles. A subtle lowering not only enhances the visual appeal of your car, but also comes with several driving dynamic advantages. The lower center of gravity minimizes the vehicle’s body roll and therefore provides stability and driving safety. This ensures that the vehicle looks good at classic car meets and stays reliable during weekend getaways.

Our KW V3 coilover kit allows adjustment of low-speed compression and rebound. The damping setup can be modified at any time – both before and after installation. Thanks to the use of high-quality materials (stainless-steel struts, corrosion-resistant trapezoidal threads, and polyamide rings), the coilovers for Mercedes SL and SLC is adjustable in terms of lowering and damping even after years of use. However, it’s a fact that the Benz gains a bit more spice in its handling. The result is a car that responds more directly and firm without compromising on driving safety.

An Even Easier Installation: The KW V3 Damper Kit

For those seeking even less effort our KW V3 damper kit is the right solution. With identical dimensions to the original damper, no registration is needed. The stainless-steel damper kit allows individual adjustments to the driving behavior at any time. The Mercedes SL and SLC in combination with our KW V3 dampers achieve a calm and direct handling.

The Mercedes-Benz SLC (C107)

This car is a luxury coupe built from 1971 to 1985. Depending on the variant, the model reaches up to 240 HP. The SLC body design was the top discussion especially due to its extravagant louvered side windows and dome-like rear window. Thanks to the louvers on the side windows, the can be fully retracted without requiring a B-pillar. The SLC (internal designation: C107) is available with a six- and eight-cylinder engine. The biggest engine option has a five-liter engine.

The Successful Big Brother – The Mercedes SL (R107)

Simultaneously with the SLC, the SL-class entered the market. It remained in production four years longer than the SL. Within its successful 18-year span, Mercedes’ luxury convertible was sold more than 237,000 times. The driving behavior remained solid, with the 300 SL and 500 SL from 1985 experiencing a suspension revision as part of the second major model update. This made the driving dynamics even more robust. Although the SLC and SL are technically nearly identical, the SL is slightly more powerful. In its largest configuration, it reaches 245 HP with an 8-cylinder engine and five liters of displacement.
