Lotus Emira and KW V5 – Elegance and Engineering Combined

The Lotus Emira (Type 131) has been available since March 2022. It has up to 405 HP and rear-wheel drive, depending on the variant. The Emira represents the last of the Lotus combustion engine cars. Inside, a four-cylinder mid-engine enables the Emira to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 4.5 seconds. The Lotus Emira is a symbol of premium vehicle technology. Mastering the fascinating Emira in every driving situation is essential.

Handling a vehicle is a highly subjective matter, but it's often noted that the Lotus Emira provides less steering feedback than other models from the British manufacturer.

Our KW test drivers described the serial suspension as firm and sporty, which isn't bad, especially in our KW world. However, even in this setup, the cornering behavior, handling, and noise levels were mediocre; this is where our KW V5 coilover suspension comes into play. With an individual lowering range of 10 to 30 millimeters at the front and rear axle, installing the coilovers alone shifts the car's center of gravity. This improves the overall road grip and cornering stability, providing more precise feedback on drivers' actions.

The KW V5: Our Masterpiece for Everyday Use

Furthermore, the KW V5 offers customizable settings, even after installation. In addition to ride height, the damping setup (high-speed/low-speed compression and rebound) can be adjusted to the driver's preferences. Additionally, the KW V5 features a reservoir that provides extra volume and enhanced cooling for the hydraulic oil during high-performance road use.

However, the KW V5 is a unique product. It is the only suspension in our Street Performance product line with Solid Piston Technology. Here, the working piston is not overflowed. Therefore, more hydraulic force is possible compared to other principles. This enables different damping forces and characteristics, resulting in a more precise and cleaner damping.

Combining these features creates a coilover kit that firmly places the Lotus on the road, responds precisely to any steering movements, and enhances driving dynamics. The materials used in the KW V5 for the Lotus Emira (Type 131) undergo multiple quality checks in the production process, promising durability, and robustness in all driving situations. The KW V5 Clubsport is height-adjustable, and the damping setup can be separately adjusted in low-speed and high-speed compression and rebound settings according to the driver's preference, vehicle weight, track conditions, and tire characteristics.
